Who We Are
The Young Widows and Widowers Group of South East Queensland (Australia) provides peer-to-peer emotional and practical support to young, widowed men and women
as they adjust to life after the death of their partner.
Everyone is welcome - our members have walked many different paths in life.
You may have been recently widowed, or it may be several years ago.
You may have been in a new relationship, engaged, married, or a same-sex couple.
You may or may not have children.
Your partner may have been unwell for some time, or may have died suddenly.
We share our stories, ideas, resources, energy, and most importantly, hope.
The group is open to anyone who is widowed and wishes to become a member.
As a guideline, ‘young’ usually means under 60 years of age
at the time widowhood commenced.
Monthly support group meetings and regular social events across the SE QLD region are a chance for members to connect and feel safe to share their grief in a
non-judgmental and understanding environment.
We have an on-line presence via our Facebook groups, and a monthly newsletter.

Upcoming Events
Despite our grief, our members do remember how to laugh and have fun. Supporting each other is a great way to learn to live again after the trauma of experiencing a loved one die. And many people have made life-long friendships through our group.

Monthly Meetings
Support Group meetings are held monthly on the last Sunday of each month (except December) from 1pm to 3pm in New Farm, Brisbane.
One to One Meeting
We realise group events are not always easy. We welcome you to reach out to us (via the Contact button or mobile number below) if you prefer to meet for a coffee on a one-on-one basis.
